Wow, I'm pleasantly surprised at the speed of the response; thank you. :) Several times I've over the past year I've spent many hours trying to figure out what people were doing and *thought* I'd find the answer on a web page somewhere, but hadn't.

I had made some lower-fi tapes of the Dead in the '80's, but they got lost through numerous moves over the years. Most of what I have is Dead-extended-family from the past couple of years: Phil and Friends, Ratdog, Donna the Buffalo, Donna Jean and the Tricksters, Jackie Greene. I do have some others that I've been giving to the bands, but I'm not certain on their distribution and archiving policies (yet).

For getting Shn ID's, having unique identifiers and marking each item of a set is the best way to help things be identifiable years later, especially when there are multiple sources for a particular performance. Once they're public they have lives of their own and getting them off on the right foot is the best way to go.

Thanks again, I'll be sure to get numbers from db.etree.org as I assemble the files.
